New! Use this framework to reflect on key insights and help you plan a report to your board after attending the 74th IASB Annual Convention.
Iowa Code does not mandate board self-assessment, but it’s a key competency encouraged in IASB's Standards for Effective School Boards. Board self-assessment is an opportunity for the whole board to evaluate operations and culture, and for board members to reflect on individual contributions to the successes and failures of the board. In this interactive session, you'll hear how a local school board and an AEA board used self-assessment this past year to reflect upon and identify ways to strengthen their governance team. You'll also explore sample instruments available through IASB and network with other participants around the potential power of board self-assessment.
